Item Description

Here is a superb Chinese early Qianlong period armorial porcelain charger, made for the BROOKE ALLEN family. (BROOKE Impaling ALLEN). Dates to circa 1745.Only a handful of services of this type were ever made. Beautifully painted brown camaieu and gold leaves & flowers. Wonderful armorial with the crest of a white fox or badger and an anchor for Allen that indicates a seaman. There is damage/restoration to this piece, but if you are like me, you will not be able to resist this beautiful charger due to the impressive size and fine armorial. It came to me with Christies sale stickers that I have removed. Please see my other antique pieces, including its pair. Many thanks. (A teapot of this pattern & another was sold by Christies for $4750. Sale 2404 Lot 0209. NY Jan 25th 2011).
