Item Description

A superb pair of hand painted Chinese armorial plates,with the
family crest for BANNERMAN of Elsick, Scotland.

Circa 1750.

The Bannerman family owned the estate since

1367 and were standard bearers for the Scottish kings, literally. Their coat of arms

contains the Scottish saltire.



Beautiful raised blue enamel flowers.



Not recorded in Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain.

Motto, "Pro Patria" or "for country".



Measure approx 9 inches wide.

Excellent condition,

one plate with minute restored

flakes, otherwise perfect.

The other with short restored rim

crack.
