Item Description

Superb Chinese armorial sauceboat, featuring armorial of FISHER imp PIGOT. Fisher on left, Pigot on right side. 'Ermine, three lozenges in fess, sable'.
One handle is well restored.
Circa 1755.
Captain Benjamin Fisher visited Canton in 1752 and 1755 aboard the ship 'Drake'.


History

Thomas Fisher married Margaret Pigot,
daughter of the first and last Baron PIGOT of Patshull, April 1755. See Howard, CAP Vol 1. Page 400.
