Item Description

These are an exquisite and very unusual pair of Georgian silver fish serving tongs in fiddle pattern.

They were made by the premier silversmithing partnership of Eley, Fearn & Chawner and comprise a large fish slice with five tines at the base and a pierced upper section for gripping. The two sections are connected by way of a clever spring in the centre and work by holding the fish slice in your hand with thumb resting on the lever for the top section to raise and lower as appropriate.

The fiddle-shaped handle is attractively engraved with a most unusual crest featuring a frog. Both sections of this high quality fish server are appropriately and clearly hallmarked and the condition excellent throughout.
