Item Description
A George III antique silver swing-handled basket of oval form with a reeded handle. The border is pierced with swags, stars and floral scrolls and the foot is oval with a reeded border. A crest of a demi-lion rampant is engraved in the centre of the basket.
This beautiful cake basket – by the celebrated workshop of the lady silversmith, Hester Bateman – was made in the year Australia was founded.
