Item Description

A pair of fiddle pattern silver table spoons by William Eley & William Fearn, London 1796/7, each engraved obverse with a family crest.

Length: 220mm / 8 3/4 inches

SAN JOSEF crest for Admiral Lord Nelson (1759-1805). Arms granted 28 Oct 1797 prior to his ennoblement in November 1798 as Baron Nelson of the Nile and Burnham Thorpe, when he was granted an augmentation to his arms.

Three matching tablespoons engraved with the San Josef crest only are in the collection of the The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich London (PLT0337/0359/0360)
