These fine antique George III sterling silver coasters have a circular cylindrical form.

Each coaster is embellished with an impressive pierced decorated undulating band accented with bright cur engraved and pin struck ornamentation to the scrolling leaf motifs.

The upper rim of each coaster is ornamented with an impressive applied gadroon style border.

The coasters retain the original turned pear wood bases, embellished with the original silver button style cartouche to the centre of each.

Each cartouche is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a lion’s head erased, ducally gorged.

Three of these impressive antique coasters retain the original green baize to the underside; the covering to the fourth is a replacement.

These Georgian coasters, crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Robert Hennell I & Samuel Hennell, are exceptional examples of their type
