Item Description

A fine pair of early George III hanoverian spoons with appropriate patination. Clear marks, but one spoon lacks a maker's mark. It is, nevertheless, obviously the pair to the fully marked example. Each spoon is marked with its original parrot's head crest to the top of the handle. There is an additional, later engraved crest to the drop at the back of both bowls. From the style of the engraving, this second crest was added in about 1840. Length: 20.3 cm (8 inches).
