Item Description

A 19th century armorial bookplate for Admiral Charles Gordon.

Admiral Charles Gordon, CB (1781 – 1860), commanded HMS Caroline in the successful campaign against pirates in the Persion Gulf in 1809. He was wounded, captured and recaptured in the Action of 18 September 1810 before going on to be the Flag Captain in the capture of the Ile de France.

Condition: Very good.

Framed in matt black.
