Item Description

A 19th century armorial bookplate for Leonard Raisbeck.

Leonard Raisbeck was a solicitor and recorder of Stockton. He proposed the idea of a canal or railway link between Stockton and Darlington in 1810 and was instrumental in making the railway a reality, on which George Stephenson's rocket was to run.

Condition: Very good. Framed in matt black and a cream mount.
