The Wilmot Family Crest

Sir John Eardley Wilmot (1709â1792), judge, the second son of Robert Wilmot (1669/70â1738), of Osmaston, Derbyshire, and his wife, Ursula, daughter and coheir of Sir Samuel Marow, bt, of Berkswell, Warwickshire. Great grandson of Sir Nicholas Wilmot (1611â1682) a prominent serjeant-at-law who was knighted at Hampton Court in 1674 and was the 3rd son of Robert Wylmot of Chaddesden. Sir John was appointed Lord Chief Justice and is said to have twice refused the Lord Chancellorship and a peerage. Married 1743 Sarah, daughter of Thomas Rivett and had 1 son and 2 daughters. His son and namesake was created a baronet in 1821. Taken from a bookplate circa 175-55.
