The Stephens Family Crest

Tregenna Castle, co. Cornwall; settled in that county for several centuries, derived from John Stephens of St Ives , who was summoned to the coronation of Charles I to receive the honour of a knighthood. The late representative of the family, Samuel Stephens, of Tregenna Castle, esq., M.P. for St Ives, and high sheriff of Cornwall in 1805, great grandson of John stephens who purchased the manor of Killigrew in Cornwall, m. Betty, only daughter of the circumnavigator, Caaptain Wallis, and d. in 1834 leaving five sons and one daughter. The arms were granted temp. Henry VIII to Henry Stephens, the immediate ancestor of the family.
