A George IV silver coffee or hot water pot, straight sided with half fluting, domed cover with gadroon border, engraved on both sides with the coat of arms, crest and motto: PREND MOI TEL QUE JE SUIS of RICKETTS for Admiral Sir Robert Tristram Ricketts Bt. (1772-1842).
Overall height approx: 8 inches / 205mm
This coffee or hot water pot belonged to Admiral Sir Robert Tristram Ricketts Bt. (1772-1842), a distinguished officer of the Royal Navy for some sixty years. He entered the Royal Navy in 1780 and after being made post captain in 1801, commanded Ville de Paris, San Josef and Hibernia. In 1813 he was appointed to Vengeur (74 guns), serving in the war with America during which he commanded the detachment of seamen landed at Mobile to assist at the reduction of Fort Boyer. He was made baronet in 1828.
