Item Description
What a lovely item this is. A William IV silver sauce ladle in the classic Fiddle pattern with a fabulous engraved crest of Pegasus, the pure white stallion, son of Neptune (or Poseidon), bearer of thunder and lightening from Olympus. To those in the Middle Ages, Pegasus was the symbol of wisdom and fame. By the 19th century, he had become the symbol of poetry. He also moonlights as the symbol of the Inner Temple. But enough about pegasus...This ladle is in lovely condition with a pleasing, authentic patina, gorgeous round bowl, crisp hallmarks, and of course, Pegasus.
