Item Description

Each sauceboat stands on three feet which terminate in grotesque masks and shells. The body is chased around the rim with a wide band of scrolls, foliage and flowers with a cartouche under the lip containing a crest. The cast scroll handle is modelled with a monster’s mask and attached to the body with a scroll clasp.
The sauceboats date from the 1740s by which date Paul de Lamerie was at the peak of his career.
