Item Description

A superb pair of Coalport plates, retailed by Daniell of London, These were probably made for the banquets at Guildhall, attended by the Mayor of London , royalty and prominent politicians of the day. Guildhall has been the seat of power for the city since the 12th Century. It continues to host banquets for special occasions and visiting heads of state. Superb claret ground, with polished gold accents. Central London shield incorporating the cross of St George, Motto "Domine Dirige Nos" . In addition, these bear the crest of the Prince of Wales. Motto "Ich Dien" with three ostrich feathers and a crown. They were probably made for the top royal table. Don't miss these rare examples.
