Item Description
Shaped circular on four rocaille and paw feet, with shell, rocaille and foliage border and chased with dense band depicting the Four Seasons and their attributes, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms below an earl's coronet, marked on reverse

History
The arms are those of Primrose quartering Cressy, for the Earls of Rosebery.
Probably commissioned for Archibald Primrose, 4th Earl of Rosebery (1783-1868), a British politician and former member of Parliament for Cashel in Ireland
Sold at Mentmore, the country seat of the Rosebery family, Sotheby's House Sale; 19 May 1977, lot 1692.
