This is a lovely and unusual gilt bronze picture frame executed in a refined neoclassical design. The border of the frame is comprised of an outer band with a delicate beaded border and raised garland of laurel leaves. The inner band features an openwork geometric design against a deep brown fabric background. The back and hinged stand are covered in an embroidered brown silk fabric. The frame is in excellent condition with very fine and crisp decoration. The frame measures approx. 10 1/4" wide and approx. 8" high, and the interior opening measures approx. 8" wide x 5 1/2" high. The restrained decoration and linear design give this antique picture frame a wonderful architectural quality that would enrich any interior. An excellent gift to suit many tastes.
