This is a lovely 14 karat gold pin set with a purple amethyst in the Renaissance Revival style. This antique pin has an architectural design featuring a gold bar with pointed ends, an openwork triangle, with a central circular piece holding the facetted amethyst, and surmounted by scrollwork details. The triangle piece is accented with a row of beads, while the circular piece is decorated with a pattern of scalloped beadwork that elegantly frames the amethyst. This pin measures approx. 1 1/4” high and approx. 1 1/2” wide. This piece is a fine example of American jewelry design from around 1890, and a wonderful example of the popular style of Etruscan beadwork. This is a pretty piece with proto-modern sensibilities that would make a great accent piece.
